This is a G rated Story
In an instant, Lisa planned how she would make her getaway. She would make an excuse that she was late in handing in his tray and try to dart out of the room before he could get a chance to even glimpse at her face. Really liking a boy was one thing, but pride was pride, and Lisa was not ready to let anyone diminish hers. Somehow she felt as though she were an open book to him, and the very thought of that was enough to drive her crazy. As these thoughts continued to weigh on her, she felt a desperate need to escape his radar no matter what. Lisa turned her back on him, scooped up his tray and started for the door.
“Hey, you’ll check on me again won’t you?” Gary asked almost plaintively.
Lisa already found herself in the safety of the hall, away from his peering eyes. She used the opportunity to fish a little bit into what his motives truly were. “Don’t you fret yourself. The nurse will be here soon to take care of you. I know she is one of the best, so you’re in good hands. You don’t have anything to worry about.”
“I’m not worried about that at all. My coach is handling everything for me and I’m confident he knows what he’s doing. I’m lucky there for sure. It’s just unbelievable how fortunate I am that right before you brought me in my dinner I had sent him out to take a well deserved break after all the time he spent with me in the emergency room. Truthfully, I am rather relieved I did since I met you. If he were here, he would have tried to get rid of you fast, seeing as, you’ll excuse my directness, how obvious it is that I am quite taken with you. The man has not a bit of romance in his soul. He’s not the type to appreciate when a man feels something different stirring deep inside him, something that can’t be ignored and demands attention, even if it means his ‘observation’ might be a little off kilter. I could tell him that it’s well worth it, but he’s too practical to understand the necessity of the tradeoff. All he cares about is if I’m alright, and if I will make a full recovery. He’d most likely view you as an impediment to that.”
