“That’s certainly thoughtful of you, and I might add, brave of you too. Being in the hospital even for observation can be more than a little frightening. It’s especially difficult when you have no one here to lean on.”
“Haven’t I though?” Gary said with his to die for grin. Gary’s grin was the kind that turned up a little more on one side of his mouth and produced the most flattering of dimples every time he did. Lisa felt herself falling for him more and more each time she looked at him. She fought hard to control her facial expressions; she did not want to let on just how taken with him she was. Then suddenly it dawned on her. She could have just kicked herself. She had been so preoccupied with trying to maintain her composure and not seem like a typical lovesick teen, that it took her a moment to realize that maybe all of this flirtation was just because he was alone and he felt the need to have an in with someone at the hospital. She already regretted her earlier admission of having been attracted to him. She tried to hide her feelings and her mortification at the fact that he might not have found her to be appealing at all. She felt herself burning up at the very prospect of her own disturbing thoughts.
