I don't want to jinx things," Lisa replied, a little sad herself that she felt unwilling to safely disclose the whole story to her friends, especially since she was bursting at the seams to do so. "Don't worry though,you'll be the first to know when the time'll be right,"Lisa consoled them. Truly, she was consoling herself the most with that promise.
Kelly found the irony of Lisa's silence on the matter to be most amusing. She gave Lisa a little laugh and a big hug."Leave it to our reigning gossip queen to buckle her lips when she has the juiciest news about herself to tell. It's all right Lisa. Obviously this means a whole lot to you, so we'll try our best to be patient and wait to you're ready to give us full disclosure. Just to show you how much in earnest we are we'll only try to pry the information out of you only ten, twenty times a day."
Samuel Powers, better known by all as 'Screech' turned the corner of the hall and approached the girls as they dropped the subject of Lisa's heart strings for the moment with their friendly hug. Upon seeing him,Lisa was caught a little off guard and jumped back. Sensing the opportunity at hand to receive a hug from his biggest crush, he threw his arms open wide in anticipation of at least a momentary satisfaction of his heart's tenderest longing.
"It seems that as luck would have it, I've arrived just in time to be next on line to receive a hug from you Lisa. So fire away, I'm ready and waiting!" Screech exclaimed with unbridled excitement. Surely, Lisa wouldn't escape him now, or so he thought.
Lisa bounced right back to herself and expelled any hope Screech might have had in securing his hug.She met his outstretched arms with her own outstretched pointed finger, warning him in no uncertain terms, "Don't even think about laying a finger on me!"
Screech's hopes for that hug were immediately dashed, but he took it all in good humor."So she's eluded me once again. Ok, there's always a next time, and who knows?" Screech mused to himself, as Lisa relaxed at his relenting to her wishes.
"Don't worry love of my life. I dare not 'molest' you as it were, but you certainly can't blame a guy for trying. "Screech smiled and put everyone at ease. Everyone knew that the thin, gawky, eccentric had a major thing for Lisa, but everyone including Screech took it in stride. In truth Lisa liked Screech very much, but she found she liked him best from a distance.
