Lisa was overjoyed; she did not feel the fatigue from working two shifts in a row at the hospital that day. When she arrived home, she found her mother sitting at the kitchen table apparently waiting for her to come home. In all the excitement she simply forgot to call her parents and let them know she was staying on for a second shift.

“Were you out with friends?” her mother asked. “If so that’s fine, but please let me know next time so I wouldn’t have to dive into a pint of ice cream to soothe my nerves.”

“Lisa, you’re too much, and let me tell you something else young lady,” she said with a glint in her eye, “You are far too young to be speaking about getting married.”
