Lisa realized that having been lost in her own thoughts, she had made a lull in the conversation. Wanting to find out more about Gary, she started a fact fishing expedition of her own.
“So college man, which school are you going to?”
“North Western Los Angeles University.”
“Hey, that’s right near me! Bayside High is right down the road from there.”
“That’s great! I always love convenience, but you would certainly be more than worth any effort it took for me to able to see you, and see you often at that,” Gary added with a smile.
“Are you sure you wouldn’t be too busy? You have classes and football and who knows what else?”
“I am rather pressed for time, I guess. I do have a double major and the football practice is relentless right now, but I would make sure to squeeze you in to my schedule should Your Ladyship be amenable,” Gary’s look of jest rolled up in earnestness was just adorable.
“I think I could accommodate your request,” Lisa answered, trying her best to match his manner of speech. “I just realized, you said you have a double major, along with football practice. Not many athletes do that. What gives?”
“Well, my sweet, it goes like this. Football is just a side thing. I enjoy the exercise and the competition, and I’ll see where it goes, but even if I do make it into the Pro’s there’s gotta be a life after football too.”
