“What do you what to know?” Lisa asked with a quizzical look upon her face.
“Well, you can start off by telling me the name of the very beautiful and vivacious young lady whose company I’ve been keeping this whole evening. I’d like to get to know her better.” Lisa found Gary’s way of speaking to be a little old-fashioned, but she did not mind it at all, for it was also altogether charming.
“My name is Lisa Turtle,” she replied.”
“Now we’re getting somewhere. So tell me Lisa Turtle, what do you do with yourself when you are not selflessly spending your time in the care of others?”
“I guess there’s not that much to say. I go to Bayside High and hang out with my friends. I like to go to the mall, to the beach, to an occasional party, you know, typical teenage stuff.”
“Lisa, you are hardly the typical teenager. How many of them do you know that would be willing to give of their own free time to do something for someone else that doesn’t involve some kind of recognition or pay back? I think you’re pretty exceptional, and if you don’t mind my saying, exceptionally pretty to boot.”
“Thanks. It’s sweet of you to say so,” responded Lisa. She was a little taken aback since most people she knew thought that she was nuts to be volunteering at the hospital. To be even more accurate, half the time she thought the very same thing about herself.
