The next day at lunch time Lisa, Jessie, Slater, Zack and Kelly were all seated at their quasi reserved booth at the Max. The Max was a burger joint just across the street from Bayside High. It was such a prevalent hangout for the students of Bayside that the school district should rightly have been made to pay the Max’s rent as it was the school’s most prominent social club.
Zack, Screech’s best friend, looked anxiously through the bustling, hungry crowd and wondered out loud, “What could be holding Screech up?”
"Who knows? Who cares? All I know is that he isn’t bothering me for a change," Lisa quipped happily. Despite the bustle around them, they all peacefully sat enjoying their lunchtime together and thought nothing of the fat and calories that they were mindlessly compiling as they voraciously devoured each morsel of the mouthwatering fare of Max’s highly sought after burgers and fries. While they sat there so pleasantly inclined, a sudden streak of color ran through the tight aisle that separated Max’s over-occupied tables. It was heading straight for them, but luckily it was slowed down by a chair that unexpectedly backed up as its occupant attempted to go and order additional victuals from the service bar. The hapless offender caused the otherwise lightning fast assailant to tumble thunderously to the floor, chair and all, thereby procuring the attention of every last patron at Max’s to pay a moment’s tribute to the crash. When the astonished onlookers awoke from the source of the interruption, they realized it was only another unintentional Screech antic, and they all soon were able to continue to delight in the food and the break from school.
Recovering from his fall, Screech scrambled back on to his feet, and although he tenderly nursed a bruise to his shoulder, he didn’t let it slow him down. A wary server deftly escaped his path as he was on the run again, and finally to the relief of everyone within his close proximity, he arrived at his friends’ table in a breathless state to find them happy to see him, but not at all concerned over what had just happened.
